Colombia Trip: Day Three (Part Two)
A single of the most well-liked day trips from Bogotá is to head about an hour north to Zipaquirá, house to the famous Salt Cathedral. To get there you have to head to the finish of the line of the Tranmileno (see above), Bogotá´s above-ground subway program.
Zipaquirá, like most towns settled by they Spanish, has an immense square with a attractive cathedral towering more than it as well as several side streets with smaller shops and restaurants.
Immediately after another extraordinary lunch from a neighborhood restaurant’s Menu del Dia, I took the quick walk to the edge of town to the Salt Cathedral, the location of a working salt mine exactly where a cathedral, complete with an whole stations of the cross, was dug out of the middle of the mountain. As I was taking the tour with my personal personal guide by means of the caverns (I was the only English-only visitor that day) he told me, “Five miners died in a methane explosion here 4 years ago, but we really should be all ideal currently.” This may possibly have explained my new-located religious feelings as I stood in the principal cathedral.
As I was walking back into town I got to pondering how you see some of the coolest dogs right here in South America. I’m thinking of performing a photo essay of sleeping dogs along with some of my photographs from me last trip. Right here’s a couple down beneath that I’m going to add to my collection.
The view from the entrance of the mine out across the rolling hills outside Bogotà.
Here’s my picture of someone taking a picture of a family in the principal square in town. They look so unimpressed with their surroundings, don’t they?
Don’t you hate individuals that take images of their food prior to they eat? That becoming stated, a couple photos of my lunch ahead of I ate it. As soon as once again, I promise, no more photographs like this.
The view of the primary chapel of the Salt Cathedral. It’s tough to describe how large this really is inside.
A small barbecue was going on at a smaller restaurant that I walked past on my way back to the bus. So that’s where dinner came from.
Dogs. Everywhere. It’s hard not to really like them even though.
